Elevated fire danger expected Sunday afternoon
An approaching cold front will bring strong winds and high fire danger to end the weekend.
We'll keep a clear sky in the forecast this evening with temperatures on the chilly side. We're staying away from freezing, though, something we haven't been able to say for a few days. Look for temps Sunday morning in the mid 30s to low 40s.
Sunday, Red Flag Warnings are in effect for much of the area beginning at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Strong winds, dry air, and above normal temps will increase the danger for wildfires. Avoid any activities that could start fires because they will spread rapidly.
Look for sunny skies with temps in the low 80s by the afternoon.
Monday starts out in the mid 50s with partly cloudy skies. We'll track a cold front into the area during the late afternoon and early evening. With little moisture to work with, we'll keep things dry as the front moves through. Before the front, look for highs in the low to mid 80s once again.
Breezy winds from the west at 20 to 25 mph will shift to the north after the front rolls through. We'll cool down to the mid 30s by Tuesday morning. Much cooler temperatures are expected for Tuesday afternoon with highs in the upper 50s.
Our quiet weather pattern continues through the middle of the week. Temps start out around 40 Wednesday morning before warming to near 60 once again.
Thursday, we'll see highs in the mid to upper 60s after morning lows around 40.
Friday, changes begin to take shape. An approaching storm system will bring about an increase in cloud cover and rain chances by Friday afternoon. We'll warm into the low to mid 60s thanks to the clouds.
Our rain chances continue Friday night and into Saturday as the center of the storm system moves into Texas. There are good chances the showers and storms will continue throughout the day on Saturday as the area of low pressure passes to our south. Look for highs in the mid 60s.
We'll continue to track this system and bring you updates throughout the week.
