HSU Track Has Solid Day At Trinity
Kami Bellah added the school record in the triple jump and Evlyn Collins set the school record in the discus to highlight the day for the Cowgirls in the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio in a meet that ended late Friday.
Bellah, who has the school record in the long jump already this season, set a new personal best and upped her school record in the triple jump to 37-7 ¾. She placed second in the triple. She went 17-6 in the long jump.
Collins, a freshman from Abilene Cooper, now has the school record in the discus, shot put and hammer throw. She threw the discus 123-4 ½ to place sixth.
Shanice Wright had a 13.01 in the 100 and Martika Davis ran a 14.32. Lauren Rodgers ran a 1:00.05 in the 400 meters
Audrey Salter ran a 2:32.08 in the 800 and won her heat. Rachel Allen ran a 17.83 in the 100 hurdles and Paige Goen went 18.38. Davis leaped 15-4 in the long jump.
Elissa Paniagua threw 89-3 ¼ in the discus. Collins threw the hammer 135-6 ½ and Paniagua threw it 82-8 1/2.
On the men’s side, Bryson Stacy had the best 100 time for the Cowboys with a 11.63. Cedric Miller had a 52.31 in the 400, Stacy ran a 52.55 and Collin Telchik had a 57.82.
Chad Caton ran a 4:26.84 in the 1500 and Chace Copp ran a 4:47.21.
Derek Footer ran a 15.17 in the 110 hurdles to place fourth after running a 14.99 on Friday morning in the Texas Relays.
Tyson Denton placed eighth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:19.31.
Zeth Barron went 11-11 3/4 in the pole vault and 135-6 ¾ in the javelin. Cedric Miller went 18-9 ¼ in the long jump.
Dustin Baker threw a 128-3 ½ in the discus.
HSU will run at Angelo State on April 6 in its next action.
