At about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Officer Patrick Sumrall contacted a motorist in the 900 block of Pine Street after observing the driver traveling southbound on a flat tire. The driver conducted standard field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The driver was taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken showed the driver’s BAC to be 0.145 and 0.140. A records check revealed that the driver had one prior conviction for DWI. The driver was arrested for the enhanced offense of (Class A) misdemeanor DWI.
At about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Jacob Weise was contacted at the Law Enforcement Center by a victim reporting two televisions had been stolen late last year by a known suspect. The victim was only recently able to retrieve identifying information about the televisions and alleged that the TV’s were removed from a travel trailer located in the 100 block of Caddo Drive. Estimated loss was reported at $845. A report for misdemeanor theft was taken. The investigation continues.
At about 1:05 a.m. Thursday, Officers James Davis and Joe Plato responded to a burglary in progress at a business in the 3000 block of South 7th Street. APD dispatch was notified that a subject with a bat had broken the window at the business. The call-taker reported hearing yelling through the phone call. The preliminary investigation revealed a broken window to the business and blood stains on the window blinds. Officer Plato took a report for Burglary of a Building and learned that the suspect was identified as the female victim’s ex-husband. The victim and a male subject were at the business during the incident. No arrests were made. The incident report indicated that the victim was willing to press charges and this investigation continues.
