Police in Hampton, Va., weren't laughing when a Waffle House employee pulled an April Fools' prank by reporting a fake robbery.
Employee Susan Tinker, 20, reported the robbery just before 6 a.m. on April 1, according to the Virginian-Pilot.
Officers spent more than an hour investigating before figuring out the report was a prank, police told Virginia TV station WTKR.
Tinker was arrested and charged with falsely summoning police. She could face a $2,500 fine and/or a year in prison, according to the Virginian-Pilot.
A Waffle House spokesperson told WTKR Tinker no longer works there.
