It's raining sharks at a golf course in Southern California.

At least, that's what golfers at the San Juan Hills Golf Club in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., might have thought after a 2-foot-long shark fell from the sky onto the 12th tee.

The 2-pound leopard shark was apparently plucked from the ocean by a bird and then dropped on the course, Melissa McCormack, director of club operations, told The Associated Press.

No one was teeing up at the time, but some golfers had just left the area.

Employees plucked the shark off the grass, stuck it in a bucket of "homemade sea water" using sea salt from the kitchen and then snapped a photo of it before releasing it back into the ocean, McCormack said.

At first, the shark didn't move, "but then it flipped and took off," she told the AP.
