A Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to sending ricin-laced letters to President Barack Obama and other officials, The Associated Press reported on Friday.

The plea from James Everett Dutschke, 42, came during a hearing in federal court in Oxford, Miss., the AP reported.

Previously, he had denied sending the letters, the wire service said.

According to AP, Dutschke has been in jail since April. In addition to the Obama letters, he was charged with sending letters to Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker and a Mississippi judge. AP reported that the letters to Obama and Wicker were intercepted.

Prosecutors recommended a 25-year sentence, the AP reported.
