Flight attendant to travelers: Flush your drugs now

An Australian airline is apologizing after a flight attendant told passengers to flush any drugs they might have before landing.

The Jetstar flight was returning from a city on Australia's Gold Coast, where many had attended a music festival last weekend.

"We have been told there are sniffer dogs and quarantine officers waiting in the domestic terminal," a flight attendant told passengers via the public address system, according to Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

"If you need to dispose of anything you shouldn't have, we suggest you flush it now," he added.

The announcement prompted several passengers to make a beeline to the toilets.

While the airline routinely makes quarantine announcements, a spokesperson said this particular crew member's words were "poorly chosen" and "plainly at odds with the professional standards we'd expect from our team."

The response on Jetstar's Facebook page has been largely positive, with some even suggesting the flight attendant get a promotion.
