Tuesday was an emotional and special day at Dyess Air Force Base as hundreds of family and friends welcomed home 170 members of the 39th Airlift Squadron. They returned home after a six-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Aircrews, maintenance and support personnel from Dyess were deployed to Afghanistan in support of overseas contingency operations. They were responsible for executing airlift missions to provide dominant combat airpower to U.S. and coalition forces in that region of the world.
During their deployment the squadron split time between being stationed at Kandahar Airfield and Bagram Airfield.
The homecoming was extra special for one of our own KTXS family members – Cassandra Webb. Her husband, Major Aaron Webb, returned to her and their 3-year-old daughter Vivian.
