AMARILLO, Texas (AP) -

A Texas Panhandle collision involving three freight trains has left four BNSF Railway crewmembers hurt - two critically - and derailed up to 30 cars.

The Department of Public Safety says the accident happened before dawn Wednesday just east of Amarillo.
Sr. Trooper Chris Ray said a stopped train was rear-ended by another eastbound train. A westbound train then hit the wreckage. Authorities are trying to determine what caused the accident.
Fort Worth-based BNSF said no hazardous materials spilled. Spokesman Joe Faust says the intermodal trains were hauling flatbed cars carrying truck trailers.
Faust said two crewmembers on the first train have injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Two crewmembers on the second train were critically hurt and taken to a hospital.
Further details weren't immediately available.
