ABILENE, Texas -

The Alzheimer's Association in Abilene is getting ready for a major event this April.

The "Steppin' Out For Memories" dinner, dance, and auction will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at the Taylor County Expo Center's Display Building.

Abilene Mayor Norm Archibald and Regional Director Libby Connally visited KTXS on Tuesday morning and spoke about the event.

"Steppin' Out For Memories" will feature Jake Hooker and the Outsiders, a Western-swing and traditional country music band.

Dr. Carl Trusler and his wife Dr. Jaynne Middleton will serve as honorary co-chairs for the dinner.

The event will also honor centenarian Dr. Virginia Boyd Connally, the first female physician in Taylor County. Connally is a retired ophthalmologist and otolaryngologist. She was the first female chief of staff at Hendrick Medical Center.
