Abilene ISD purchases transit buses for out-of-town travel
Two of six new transit buses have officially made their new home the Abilene ISD bus barn.
The Blue Bird school activity buses will save the district approximately $100,000 a year.
The buses will serve numerous programs - mostly at the high schools - but will occasionally be used for elementary and middle school out-of-town trips.
One unique feature about the buses is their names.
The names were taken from the Character Counts education program.
The buses are named for the Six Pillars of Characters: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
