Abilene Police: Drug, DWI, trespassing arrests made

ABILENE, Texas -

From Abilene Police Department spokesman George Spindler:

At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Officers Alfred Dixon and Brad Compton responded to a criminal trespass in-progress at a business in the 1700 block of Butternut Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a representative that a known male subject was trespassing on their premises and that this was a reoccurrence. Officer Compton contacted the involved parties. A records check confirmed that the subject had been warned not to return to the business. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor Criminal Trespass.

At about 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Officer Alfred Dixon contacted a motorist in the 700 block of North 12th Street for a few traffic violations. Officer Dixon contacted the male driver of the vehicle and smelled the odor of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was detained. A search of the involved vehicle revealed marijuana inside of bags. One bag contained approximately 4.1 ounces of marijuana. Another bag contained approximately 1.7 ounces of marijuana. A records check confirmed the driver had one outstanding arrest warrant for a transportation code violation; driving while license suspended. The driver was arrested for felony Possession of Marijuana and for his warrant.

At about 12:55 a.m. Friday, Officer Michael Garcia contacted a motorist in the 1300 block of Butternut Street for a traffic violation. Officer Garcia contacted the female driver and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. Officer Garcia also observed that the driver displayed indicators of intoxication. The driver conducted standard field sobriety tests which she performed poorly. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where she provided specimens of her breath. Breath samples taken showed the driver’s BAC to be 0.162 and 0.161. The driver was arrested for an enhanced misdemeanor (Class A) DWI based on a BAC sample being above 0.15.
