From Abilene Police Department spokesman George Spindler:
At about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, officers went to a residence in the 2600 block of Nonesuch Road in an attempt to locate a wanted male subject. During their preliminary investigation officers made contact with a female resident at the address. They advised the resident that they had a warrant for the subject’s arrest. Moments later the male subject was observed fleeing and jumping out a two-story window in his attempt to avoid arrest. A short foot pursuit ensued and the subject was captured. The subject was arrested for a felony burglary arrest warrant and for misdemeanor evading arrest.
At about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Kurt Thomas responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 5300 block of Harwood Street. APD dispatch received notification from a female resident claiming that her ex-husband was on the premises causing problems after a verbal altercation and would not leave the premises. Officer Thomas contacted the involved parties and learned that the parties had been in a verbal altercation. A records check confirmed that the male subject had an outstanding arrest warrant for a misdemeanor traffic offense. The subject was searched and a small flashlight in the subject’s pocket was located. Further investigation revealed that the flashlight contained a clear plastic baggie with a crystalline-like substance. That substance tested positive for methamphetamine. Approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine was seized. The subject was arrested on his warrant and for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine).
At about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Jason Haak was in the area of 1800 South Clack Street when he observed a male subject fleeing from a local night club. Several persons were pointing at the fleeing subject in an effort to get Sgt. Haak to contact the subject. As Sgt. Haak attempted to contact the subject, the subject continued to evade him and a short foot pursuit ensued. During this incident, APD dispatch received notification that a male subject involved in Sgt. Haak’s foot pursuit was allegedly involved in a theft from inside the night club. The subject was subsequently detained. The preliminary investigation revealed that the subject apprehended by Sgt. Haak was in possession of a stolen cellphone valued at approximately $300. A records check confirmed that the subject had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for evading arrest. The records check also confirmed that the subject had a previous conviction for evading arrest and two prior theft convictions. The subject was arrested on the felony warrant and for two additional felony charges: Evading Detention and Theft.
