Abilene children plant vegetable garden at Hope Haven

ABILENE, Texas -

Members of Hope Haven and the Junior League of Abilene came together Saturday morning to help children plant a vegetable garden and teach them about healthy diets.

Hope Haven provides transitional housing for families. 

The children began planting the garden at 9 a.m. at Hope Haven on Treadaway Boulevard. Chef Bobby Larry from Abilene Regional Medical Center taught a class that focused on healthy diets and portion sizes.    

"The parents were out here too so the kids can teach their parents just as much as the parents can teach them," Belinda Southaol, with the Junior League of Abilene, said.
