Abilene drivers urged to watch out for seal coat street improvement projects

ABILENE, Texas -

The city of Abilene’s Public Works Department began a seal coat street improvement project this week. The effort is set for five areas around the city.

The first improvement area is located on Buffalo Gap Road to Treadaway Boulevard and Danville to South 27th Street. This first phase of the project will take an estimated three weeks to complete depending on weather conditions.

The seal coat project is scheduled to take place in the following order:

Area #1

Various streets within the following area:

Buffalo Gap Road to Treadaway Boulevard and Danville Drive to South 27 Street

Area #2

Various streets within the following area:

Sayles Boulevard to Treadaway Boulevard and South 14th Street to South 7th Street

Area #3

Various streets within the following area:

Danville Drive to Mockingbird Lane and North 1st Street and North 10th Street

Area #4

Various streets within the following area:

Treadaway Boulevard and Judge Ely Boulevard to East North 10th Street and Ambler Avenue

Area #5

Various streets within the following area:

Treadaway Boulevard to Judge Ely Boulevard and East Highway 80 to East North 10th Street

Signage will be placed in the effected neighborhoods and notifications will be made to property owners in the area. Residents are asked not to park on the street while seal coat improvements are taking place on their street. Drivers traveling in these areas are encouraged to be cautious of workers performing the seal coat improvements.
