A soccer tournament was held Sunday at Mann Middle School in Abilene to raise money for a young boy diagnosed with lymphoma.
Crew Avery, 10, has been in the hospital fighting the disease for the past couple of months.
Eighteen teams of children came out to play soccer to help Crew's family pay for medical expenses. Each child paid $10 to enter the tournament.
"We're just out here trying to do what we can for the family," Junior Maldonado said. "We've got some of our community and some of our soccer buddies to come together and have some fun for Crew."
The last two teams in the match-up were players from Crew's original team. They refused to play each other because they said they were "one team for Crew."
T-shirts are also being sold to help the family. For more information email Sheltonholmes90@gmail.com
