BROWNWOOD, Texas -

You might notice more Halloween decorations out this year.

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), this year more Americans are celebrating Halloween than ever before.

The Card and Party Factory in Brownwood reports their largest numbers in October, even beating out Christmas, and this year is no different.

According to the NRF, the number of Americans who are celebrating Halloween this year is about 170 million.

The survey reports it's the most in it's decade long history.

"This is our bet time of the season is Halloween, it's getting busier everyday and we're really enjoying it," said Margaret McGuire, Manager at Card and Party Factory in Brownwood.

The majority of the money being spent is on costumes.

"It's the invisible man, especially the guys, they want the tuxedo looking one, it's very form fitting, and also the ghoul that covers the whole head and you can't see anything because the face is behind black mesh," said McGuire.

The two best selling costumes at Card and Party Factory make up 55% of their total costume sales.

The NRF estimates Americans will spend nearly $80 billion for costumes, decorations, and bowls of candy.
