ABILENE, Texas -

A slew of motor vehicle accidents, which have included nine deaths in the Big Country since Friday, have brought Abilene’s Meek Blood Center’s supply to a “critically low point.”

All blood types are needed, said Lynne Bruton, spokeswoman for Hendrick Medical Center.

“As you know, we have been low on our blood supply for the last few weeks,” Bruton said. “The recent motor vehicle accidents have brought our blood supply to a critically low point. We really need another plea to get donors in the blood center.”

The Meek Blood Center, which is part of the Hendrick Health System, is located at 1150 N. 18th St. on the first floor of the Cedar Mall Building.
