Due to a boil water notice, the city of Breckenridge is asking parents to send bottled water with their children to school on Thursday and Friday.
An automated message was calling parents Thursday morning about the request.
Breckenridge ISD is stocking up on bottled water, but asks that parents still send a bottle of drinking water with their child to school to help. A post on the Breckenridge ISD facebook page Thursday morning also mentioned the need to bring bottled water.
During a boil water notice, children are not allowed to drink from a drinking fountain.
The boil water notice was issued after a water main broke early Thursday morning. All overhead and ground storage tanks were drained before crews isolated the break.
The boil water notice is in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. During that time, all water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled for two minutes, or you can use bottled water.
