Christian Homes and Family Services celebrates 50 years of service with ribbon cutting

ABILENE, Texas -

A year-long anniversary celebration ended Tuesday with a ribbon cutting involving people whose lives were impacted by Christmas Homes and Family Services.

Among those in attendance included Denise Lowry, who kept the ministry's first foster child in 1963, John Hagler, the oldest person adopted from Christian Homes living in Abilene still, and 4-year-old Kayla Murray who was recently adopted.

The ministry was honored by both the City of Abilene and Taylor County at Tuesday's celebration.

The organization also provides help for women with an unplanned pregnancy.

Since Christian Homes and Family Services began, 1,849 children have been adopted, 1,562 children have been fostered, and 2,504 young women with an unplanned pregnancy have been helped.
