Copper theft results in $50k in damage to future Abilene apartment complex

$50k in damage to future Abilene apartment complex
ABILENE, Texas -

Copper theft resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to an Abilene apartment complex that is currently under construction. 

According to an Abilene police incident report, the superintendent of Journeyman Construction reported approximately 12 feet of copper wire was cut off the ends of the electrical mains at the complex located on 3702 Rolling Green Drive. 

He told police the entire electrical system's copper wiring must be re-installed. The damage is estimated at $50,000.
