DALLAS (AP) - A park built over a downtown Dallas freeway opened this weekend, creating a new urban green space.

The 5-acre Klyde Warren Park, built over the recessed Woodall Rodgers Freeway, opened Saturday. Organizers expect about 40,000 visitors over the weekend for a variety of activities including concerts. On Sunday night actor Owen Wilson, the grand opening honorary chair, will introduce his film "Midnight in Paris" as the first feature of movie night in the park.

The park - which includes a performance stage, restaurant, a dog park and a children's park - is expected to help increase pedestrian and bicycle traffic between downtown and the area just to the north known as uptown.

The park, the result of a public-private partnership, will be privately operated by the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation.
