ABILENE, Texas -

Not crazy about the stuff Santa brought you? You're not the only one.

Millions of Americans will return unwanted holiday gift items today, on the day retail experts call the biggest gift return day of the year.

According to retail experts, gift-givers spent nearly $3.4 billion on unwanted presents this year.

Lines were long today at Best Buy, but most customers were in good spirits.

"It's not as long as I thought it would be," said Leslie Ringuette. "I knew that there'd be a lot of people in here. I shudder to think of what Walmart looks like," she said.

Customer Sharon Garcia said she was pleased with her wait time.

"I just got here. I've only been here for about five minutes, so I'm doing good," she said.

Some customers were cashing in on good price-matching deals, including big-ticket items.

A Best Buy representative said the best time to make returns or exchanges is as soon as the store opens or right before it closes.

Here are some other tips on how to make the gift-returning process easier:

- Know the store's policy and deadline for returns. Most stores have a 30 or 60 day policy.

- Expect a 15-day return window for electronics. If you want to return unwanted gadgets, get to the store as soon as possible.

- Return lines will be shorter tomorrow and Friday.

- Have your ID ready. Stores check for identification to prevent fraud and the return of stolen merchandise. price
