Local residents celebrated a unique part of Texas history at Abilene State Park on Saturday.

The once popular Frontier Day was brought back to life Saturday afternoon.  The event celebrated the 19th Century customs of rugged Texas. It featured booth displays with artifacts from that era and demonstrations that highlighted daily life in that period.

Actors were on hand to revive the daily routines of the 1800s.

"Our heritage. Yeah, without, without our past, we don't have a present or a future. So we have to celebrate the past and that's what we're here doing today," actor Jerry Perkins said.

Participants were actively engaged in hunting and archery.
