ABILENE, Texas -

An Abilene woman was indicted Thursday for allegedly pepper spraying a girl who reportedly laughed at her.

According to police, 65-year-old Linda Jones was staying at the Rodeway Inn in October 2012 when she threatened to report a 12-year-old girl and her mother who removed an ice machine cover to retrieve ice more quickly.

Jones allegedly contacted the girl a second time, tapped her on the shoulder and sprayed her in the face with pepper spray because the girl had laughed at her. According to police, Jones admitted she did not like the girl’s attitude.

Officers said their investigation revealed Jones had not been provoked and the girl’s face swelled up from the pepper spray.
