Tuesday, people were able to walk off some of those decadent holiday meals at Lake Brownwood State Park.
There was a First Day of the Year Hike on the two mile long Texas Oak Trail.
Close to 30 people turned out for the hike led by a park ranger.
Joseph Dodson and his son Jayden Dodson are no strangers to the Texas Oak Trail at Lake Brownwood State Park.
"We've probably been here about four or five times on this particular hike," said Dodson. "We just like to be outdoors, and enjoy what the Lord has created."
As for David Lindsay, this was his first excursion on the Texas Oak Trail.
"I read about it on the internet, and decided to come out here and give it a try instead of sitting on the couch and watching football all day," said Lindsay.
The hikers were served hot chocolate after they completed the Texas Oak Trail.
Lake Brownwood State Park officials urge the community to explore other trails the park has to offer, or bring a fishing pole and enjoy free fishing.
The park has different activities year-round. Call Lake Brownwood State Park for more information. 325-784-5223.
