Mardi Gras Parade for dogs Saturday in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas -

A Mardi Gras themed parade for dogs and their owners will be held this Saturday in Abilene.

The "Krewe of Barkus" dog parade will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. The parade will be held at Camp Barkeley Dog Park located near the entrance to the Abilene Zoo and Nelson Park.

Dogs and their owners are encouraged to dress in Mardi Gras attire.

The parade will also have contests, with winners chosen for "Best Pet & Owner Look-A-Like," "Most Creative Costume," and "Best Float." A King and Queen of the parade will also be picked.

The dog parade is free and no pre-registration is required.
