McMurry students were on campus Thursday spray-painting t-shirts to promote "World Village" and "Holy Week."
Starting Friday, about 40 tents will be set up in Wah Wahtaysee Park.
Students will be camping out through next Thursday hoping to recruit donors to help raise funds to send students on mission trips over the summer.
They will also be out at the corner of Sayles and South 14th Blvd. asking for donations throughout the week.
Event organizer Martha Chace said the mission trips will be to Haiti, India and Africa.
"We're going to these places and figuring out ways to help them and help them in a sustainable way. So it's not like we're giving. We're giving them the tools they need to keep going," said Chace.
Chace said about 60 to 100 students will be participating in the event. She likes that the event involves all three local universities. Students from about Abilene Christian University and Hardin-Simmons University will be playing in a concert that will be held at the park Friday night.
Last year they raised over $2,000. They are hoping to collect more this year.
She said the event has grown since last year.
