"Everyone deserves a birthday."
That was the theme for the Pregnancy Care Center's fundraising banquet Tuesday night.
Guest speaker Gianna Jessen was an inspiration for a movie.
Jessen spoke Friday night during the banquet about surviving an abortion. The movie "October Baby" is based on her life story.
The fundraising banquet was thrown to spread the word about what Pregnancy Care Center does for the community.
"We offer classes for parenting for new parents, we offer counseling, anything we can do to encourage families to grow and be productive citizens," Executive Director Terri Medlock said.
The evening was filled with entertainment, food, birthday cake, and inspiration provided by Gianna Jessen.
Jessen told the crowd how her faith in Jesus Christ helped overcome obstacles like cerebral palsy, a result of the failed abortion.
Hoping to raise awareness about their pro-life services, Medlock said, "the pregnancy center is sponsored only by individuals, churches, businesses, and other organizations. We receive no government money."
The center is a non-profit organization and relies heavily on fundraisers like this one.
The Pregnancy Care Center was recognized by the state senate for their work.
