Friday night was opening night for Howard Payne University's annual Spring Sing.
This year's theme is "Once Upon a Time." Two sororities and two fraternities sang their hearts out Friday night hoping to win Spring Sing 2013. The first three places receive cash awards.
Spring Sing is a loved tradition at HPU.
"I mean the students love to come watch, alumni love to come watch because they were in it years previous, so it's just a fun time," said Spring Sing Co-Director Lara Hernandez.
Students from four greek life organizations performed skits mimicking popular fairy tales and stories.
Iota Chi Alpha performed Monty Python and the Holy Goat.
"What it is, is I'm King Arthur and we're going on a quest to get to the castle to find the holy goat, and in the process we come across a bridge of death," said Astin Murray.
Chi Alpha Omega put a love twist on the Wizard of Oz.
"Instead of going home, it's all about her quest to find love like her once prince charming, because the theme is once upon a time," said Kerrie Ford playing Glenda.
"The scarecrow, tin-man, and the lion are all competing for her attention, and she actually falls in love with a munchkin," said Dillan Hanks playing Dorothy.
Each organization had the audience laughing and impressed with choreographed dance moves all the way through until the curtain closed.
First, second, and third place cash prizes will be awarded Saturday night at 7, along with the Audience Choice Award and the Character Award.
Tickets are sold at the door, and are $4 for HPU students and $6 for non-students.
