Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit shows off local artwork in Brownwood
If art interests you, the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood has plenty of it.
The 15th annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit is going on now through next week.
They have daily demonstrations. Thursday's included zine creations, yarn spinning, and pastel painting.
Jonathan Ceniceros is a 2008 Howard Payne University graduate with an art communication degree and teaching certification.
His dream is to become an art teacher.
"When i went to college, I decided if I had to do something the rest of my life, it might as well be something I like." said Ceniceros.
Thursday he showed 4th graders from Coggin Elementary School the basics of pastel painting.
Students watching Jonathan paint, said he is ready to be an art teacher.
"He'll probably make them grow up and want to be an artist too," said Autumn Rouse.
"He tried to do his best and looked at different angles, and he tried to put all the color he could in there," said Santos Munoz.
The students have spoken, and Jonathan passed the test.
No job prospects yet, but Jonathan is hopeful.
"As soon as they start hiring in May, maybe we'll hear some good things." said Ceniceros.
The depot will host three different artists tomorrow. To see a full schedule of the Stars of Texas Art Exhibit and more events they have planned, visit http://www.starsoftexasjuriedartexhibit.com.
