FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -

A man in whose North Texas home a teenage girl was killed in a failed robbery has, himself, been found dead in a burning sport utility vehicle.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says firefighters found the body of 44-year-old Robert Excell Dodson II in the flaming vehicle Sunday night 25 miles southwest of Fort Worth. Sheriff's Lt. Tim Jones said the death was a homicide but wouldn't specify the cause.

It was Dodson who found 17-year-old Claudia Hidic dead of a gunshot wound on the back doorstep of Dodson's Fort Worth home on June 28. Terrance Crumley and Curtis Fortenberry have been indicted on capital murder charges. Investigators later concluded Hidic was caught in the crossfire in an attempted home robbery she had conceived.
