Several kids experienced their first flight on Saturday at Abilene Regional Airport.
It was Young Eagles Day. The Experimental Aircraft Association hosts the event a couple of times each year. The program was launched in 1992. The flights that are offered are free of charge.
They invite youngsters to come out and ride in an airplane for the very first time. A spokesperson for the event said it's important to introduce kids to aviation.
Especially, since those in the airline industry are concerned about finding pilots for the future.
