Abilene City Council to discuss changes to event planning

On Thursday, the Abilene City Council will discuss laying out the process on how to plan events on city property.
This mainly affects events like 5k and 10k races.
City Manager Larry Gilley says the council will layout how planners can contact the city to gain permission for their events.
"We think this is a good idea. It makes it much easier for people who are planning events of this nature, to know who to talk to, what the process is. It certainly makes it easier for staff to monitor these events and plan for them appropriately," said Gilley.
The council will have its first reading on the topic on Thursday, December 5. The meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.
