ABILENE, Texas -

An Abilene High senior-to-be garnered the highest possible score on the ACT, earning a top composite score of 36.

Jackson Pybus, a member of Abilene High’s class of 2014 and son of Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pybus, received the score when he took the test on campus in June, according to a news release from the Abilene Independent School District.

Less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn the top score.

The ACT includes tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and students’ composite scores are the average scores of the four tests. Of those from the class of 2012 who took the ACT, just 781 of the more than 1.66 million students earned a composite score of 36.

According to the news release, Jackson Pybus  plans to study nuclear engineering in college and is in the process of choosing between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Texas A&M University and Abilene Christian University.
