ABILENE, Texas -

Two Abilene men face drug-related criminal charges after one allegedly led police on a foot chase early Saturday morning.

Police pulled 26-year-olds Tommy Bell and Zachry Leverton over in a traffic stop on South 5th Street just after midnight.

Officers said Leverton was driving the vehicle; however, when he stopped for police, Bell got out of the vehicle and ran away. Leverton was detained and allegedly found in possession of two bags containing marijuana.

Police said they chased Bell for more than a block and when they finally caught up with him, they discovered he had marijuana cigarettes on him and he there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Leverton is charged with marijuana possession. Bell is charged with marijuana possession along with evading arrest and his warrant for illegal dumping. As of Sunday, Bell remains in the Taylor County Jail on $3,374 total bond.
