Abilene Police Department: 46 police vehicles damaged by hail

Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge says 46 vehicles were damaged by the hail storm Thursday night.
Some were damaged so badly they needed to be towed away.
Standridge tells KTXS that police were able to utilize some new vehicles purchased, but not yet in service to patrol.
A strong storm came through Abilene at 6 p.m. Thursday with strong winds, heavy rain, and very large hail, including some the size of baseballs.

City services affected by storm damage
ABILENE, Texas – Some City of Abilene services have been affected by the recent storm. Large hail, high winds, and heavy rains damaged various city vehicles and buildings.
CityLink is cancelling most ADA paratransit van service Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. Nineteen vans used for the paratransit service were damaged. CityLink will provide only dialysis and Medicaid transportation Friday and Saturday. The large buses were not affected by the storm. Fixed route bus service will operate normal hours on all routes. The Abilene Fire Department is shutting down Fire Station 4 at 1909 West Stamford Street due to rain and hail damages. All other fire stations will remain in service.
Forty-six Abilene Police Department vehicles were damaged by the hail, however, service remains unaffected.
