From Abilene Police Department spokesman George Spindler:
At about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, agents with the Special Operations Division assisted US Marshalls with the apprehension of a parole violator with an active arrest warrant. Several male subjects were contacted in the back yard of a residence in the 2000 block of Green Street. During the identification process, a male subject identified himself with a false name and three different dates of birth. This subject, subject #1, was positively identified and a records check confirmed that the subject had several outstanding arrest warrants; two of them for felony offenses. A search of subject #1 revealed him to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. Subject #1 was arrested for his warrants and for two misdemeanor offenses: Failure to Identify and Possession of Marijuana. Subject #2 was positively identified and a records check confirmed the subject as having a federal and a parole arrest warrant. A search of subject #2 revealed him to be in a possession of a digital scale, packaging material and a small quantity of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The residence is known to be approximately 500 feet from Fannin Elementary School. Subject #2 was arrested for the warrants and for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone (methamphetamine).
At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Chief Stan Standridge contacted a motorist in the 1000 block of Peach Street for a traffic violation. Officer Katie Snell assisted on the call. The male driver was contacted and found to be without identification and had the slight odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver acknowledged that he had recently drank some beer. An open container of alcohol was also observed during the preliminary investigation. A records check confirmed the driver had previous alcohol-related driving suspensions. The drivers’ license was suspended and the driver was arrested for misdemeanor Driving While License Invalid. The driver was also cited for Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Vehicle (Open Container).
At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Officers Cody Brown and Mary Guitar responded to a fight call at an apartment complex in the 900 block of South 27th Street. With the exception of an injured male subject, involved parties had scattered prior to police arrival. The injured subject was being treated for injuries sustained during the fight. Officers determined that the injured subject was intoxicated but required treatment. While receiving treatment in an ambulance, the male subject ran out of the ambulance and into the roadway. Officers observed the subject running and began commanding him to stop while giving chase. The subject continued to run as officers converged to stop him. The subject attempted to elbow an officer in the face and also attempted to strike the officer with his knee during attempts to place him in custody. Officers were able to effect the arrest while the subject resisted. The subject was arrested for three misdemeanor offenses: Evading Detention, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication.
