After twenty-four years on a motorcycle, one Abilene police officer is hanging up his riding boots.
Thursday, police held a retirement ceremony for Officer Terry Monroe of the traffic division at the Taylor County Law Enforcement Center. Officer Monroe spent 29 years with the Abilene Police Department, 24 of those years as a motorcycle patrolman.
As a sign of thanks, the department presented him with the gun he originally received when he started with the Abilene police force.
