Technology not only changes the way we work and communicate, it changes the way we learn.

Abilene ISD employees got the chance to view, touch and evaluate technology equipment that will likely wind up in their classrooms at a teacher and vendor event at the One AISD Center.

"What's really been nice about today is we've had at least two teachers from every campus in the district come and be a part of the decision making," Carry Owens said. "They have been able to meet with all the venders."

Everything from projectors to tablet computers were interactive. For example, what a student views on their iPad can be seen on the projector. A teacher can easily see what is on the big screen. Abilene ISD leaders hope more teachers check out the new tools.

Owens said, "They are use to a constant changing environment around them. Having interactive boards will allow the students to have the constant change to keep their attention."

The goal is to make sure they choose something that will be the best use of funds from the November bond election.
