The Alliance for Women and Children will offer cancer screening to low income women for a few more months.
The Texas Department of State Health Services decided not to renew the contract with the organization. They were told they could no longer offer the screenings starting June 30.
The organization filed a contract extension. The DSHS extended the contract until Sept. 30.
The DSHS is looking to move the services to a more clinical setting, like a doctors office or hospital.
The Alliance has provided screenings for 36 counties for more than a decade.
