ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -

Police have surrounded a North Texas apartment complex where a suspected gunman remains barricaded after reports of shots fired.

Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook had no immediate confirmation on whether anyone was hurt in the incident Monday morning. Emergency medical personnel were also at the scene as police attempted to communicate with the suspect to get him to surrender.

Cook said police around 6 a.m. Monday responded to 911 calls about shots fired. He says the gunfire continued even after officers secured the scene.

Cook could not immediately provide details on a possible motive for the shootings at the complex in North Arlington, midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Further details weren't immediately available.
