A man suspected of robbing a man at gunpoint in mid-July is now behind bars.
Johnathan Turnbull, 23, was arrested Monday afternoon, Abilene police said Tuesday.
A resident on Yorktown Drive in Abilene called police to report three male suspects had attempted to climb her fence. When she confronted them, they ran.
Police tried to contact the subjects. That's when police said Turnbull left the group and ran from police.
An officer caught Turnbull. Police also recovered a backpack Turnbull allegedly discarded while fleeing.
Turnbull was taken into custody for questioning. Police say the investigation revealed Turnbull was the suspect that robbed a man on July 17 in the 500 block of Westmoreland Street. Turnbull allegedly stole money and a moped from the victim.
The backpack Turnbull allegedly tossed while on the run held a handgun that had been reported stolen. The gun was identified as the one used in the armed robbery.
Police arrested Turnbull and charged him with aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and misdemeanor evading detention. His bonds are set at $107,000.
