A spate of armored-car robberies in Houston has one company making it clear that its guards are armed and willing to fight back.
Authorities in Houston have reported 11 armored car heists this year, almost four times as many as last year. A spokesman for armored car company GardaWorld tells the Houston Chronicle that it wants the public to be aware of the dangers its guards are facing.
Robert Hatchett said that some of the robbers are not just taking money, but "brandishing weapons and opening fire."
Hatchett wants the public to know that its drivers are well-armed and discourages bystanders from getting involved in confrontations.
Armored cars travel between banks, stores and ATMs.
FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap said authorities have made arrests in two robberies this year.
