ABILENE, Texas -

Big Brothers Big Sisters and Communities of Abilene Federal Credit Union raised $149,313 during a five-year fundraiser, resulting in 213 children being taken off their waiting list.

The Skip-A-Payment program allowed members of CoAFCU to skip a loan payment and make a $10 donation to BBBS during November and December. The company matched the donations for every skipped payment and resulted in more than $140,000 raised.

The check was presented to BBBS on Tuesday morning on Chestnut Street.

Just this year, the Skip-A-Payment program raised more than $28,000, which helped 40 children get off the waiting list and get assigned a Big Brother or Big Sister.
