The Brownwood Fire Department and the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department have teamed up to increase the community's safety and awareness.
They created a Facebook page about a month ago, where they post alerts to weather dangers such as fires, tornadoes, flash floods, storms and more. They try to post on a daily basis.
Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright said the "Brownwood/Brown County Emergency Management" Facebook page can make a difference in life or death situations.
"Sometimes with fast-moving fires, you only have a few minutes to get out of the way," said Albright. "The quicker you find out about it, the better your survival rate will be and so it can be very vital to a person and their family."
The Brown County Health Department's Cliff Karnes helped create the Facebook page, and he said they have already received positive feedback.
"People are on Facebook every day so what we post can easily stream into their news feed," said Karnes. "We want to remind the community that they should not solely rely on our page because it wouldn't really be up-to-date if they don't check it right that minute."
If you want to get connected, you can search for "Brownwood/Brown County Emergency Management" on Facebook and click "like".
