Progress continues to be made in finding an alternative, viable source of water in Brown County.
The Brown County Water Improvement District board members held a brief noon meeting on Friday. They unanimously approved a $37,250 expenditure that will be beneficial once water drilling is underway. The money will go toward an additional 125 feet of casing to hold higher pressures and larger volumes of water.
Water district general manager Dennis Spinks said the drilling rig is not on site yet but it is on its way. He said he hopes drilling will begin next week.
