ABILENE, Texas -

City officials are monitoring the local mosquito population, especially after recent rainfall.

The city's Environmental Health Manager tells KTXS they will do some spraying, but they are unsure as to how much they will do just yet.

The city currently sprays ballparks on Wednesday mornings, weather permitting.

City workers also sprayed one of their trapping sites twice recently because of a sudden increase in mosquitoes captured at that site.

The spraying will focus on reducing mosquito habitats.
