Dyess Elementary honors military past and present with "I Love America" program
Friday was a very patriotic day at Dyess Elementary School as they performed their "I love America" program at to honor veterans and active duty military in the community. This year they celebrated the 150 anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.
They focused on the Civil War era, embracing America's diversity and the importance of being united. Twenty veterans from WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars were on hand. The fifth graders led the program but the whole school took part in the event that was first established in 1982.
