EARLY, Texas -

The Early Fire Department received a generous donation this week.

The nearly $315,000 tanker truck is a gift that will benefit not only the fire department but many communities as well.

Most of the money for the tanker truck came from a FEMA grant, which took three years to obtain. It was approved in January 2012 and provided $295,000.

A private donor gave $14,000, and the City of Early donated $13,500. The Early Fire Department raised money to cover the rest.

"In the last six years, we've come a long, long way," Early Fire Chief Chad Hill said. "It's a good feeling to see the guys' morales up, so that's a good thing [to have a] new piece of equipment for the community and the firemen."

Early Assistant Fire Marshal Weston Eoff said the tanker truck can hold more equipment and water, which will help the firefighters do their job and better serve the community.
